A Tropical ciclone is a big storm on the warm tropical oceans, it usualy have hight speed wind, heavy rain and luw atmospheric preasure. it can be calles with different names depending on the area in wich it is formed, for example: In indian Oceans they are called cyclones, in the Caribbean they are hurricanes, and in the South China Sea they are called typhoons. the meteorologists give them different names depending on
emit forecasts and warnings. to form an one it is needed a temperature of at least 26°C of the water, which is why they usually occur over tropical seas.
- Now I will explain step by step the formation of a ciclone:
- Air above the water is heated
- the warm moist air starts to rise.
- A centre of low pressure develops and sucks air from the surface.
- Wind speeds increase to 150-200 km per hour, in a huge circularly.
- Torrential rain falls, except from the cyclone's eye where the weather is calm and dry.
the intensity of a cyclone is determined by its wind speed. in Australia a Category 1 cyclone is when the wind speed is less than 78 miles per hour; it is a Category 2 cyclone when the wind speed is between 78 and 102 miles per hour; in a Category 3 the wind speed is between 103 and 139 miles per hour; in a Category 4 cyclone it is between 140 and 173 miles per hour; and finally it is a Category 5 cyclone when the wind speed is more than 174 miles per hour.
They can be divided on three:
Inmediate:
Destruction, lose of biodivercity, lose of human life, floodings.
short tearm:
disseases on people, people movement, lose of houses
long tearm (These ones are more economical):
Reconstruction is expensive, medicines too, homeless people, shut down of servises.
